Looking ahead to the 2024-25 season
Fixtures are out for the Premier League and WSL. Can Arsenal use their 20 derbies to get their hands on the club's first league title since 2019?
The Premier League and the Women’s Super League have announced the fixture lists for the 2024-25 season, meaning all 62 top-tier London derbies have been scheduled.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United all have teams in both leagues, with Palace playing in the WSL for the first time.
The first derby of the season is scheduled for 18 August, with Brentford hosting Crystal Palace in the Premier League. Brentford will also host the final derby of the season at the Gtech Community Stadium on 18 May against Fulham.
Arsenal’s first derby is the North London Derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 15 September, while the women’s team take on Chelsea in their first derby on 13 October at the Emirates Stadium.
Over the past two seasons, the Arsenal men’s team has won 17 of 24 London derbies, losing just two games. With the margins so tight between winning the league and winning nothing, as we’ve seen these past two years, this season’s derbies are going to be more important than ever.
For the women, the 2024-25 season promises to be a fascinating one. All-conquering Chelsea have a new manager, and Spurs are on the rise after reaching their first ever FA Cup final in May.
I don’t know about you, but personally I can’t wait for kick off!
